Set up your grow kit

Learn how to open the bag, prepare the growing surface, choose an indoor location, and establish a simple misting routine.

After your first harvest

Encourage a bonus crop

A second crop is not guaranteed, but this video shows how to reset the kit and support additional growth after the first harvest.

The growing environment

Choose the right indoor spot

Keep your kit somewhere convenient for daily care, in a well-ventilated indoor area with bright indirect light.

Easy to mist daily

A kitchen counter or another clean indoor surface makes twice-daily misting easier to remember.

Bright indirect light

Choose a well-lit room without placing the grow bag in direct sunlight.

Away from drafts and heat

Keep the kit away from open windows, strong drafts, heating or air-conditioning vents, and the stove.

Official grow kit instructions

Follow these steps after watching the setup video. Start your kit as soon as possible after it arrives.

  1. Make the opening

Cut an X about 2 inches long and 1 inch deep. Keep the plastic flaps attached.

  2. Prepare the surface

Lift the flaps and lightly scratch the exposed substrate with a fork.

  3. Add water and place

Add 3 tablespoons of water. Place the kit indoors in bright, indirect light.

  4. Mist twice daily

Use 10 to 12 sprays on the X opening in the morning and evening.

  5. Watch them grow

Growth may take 1 to 2 weeks. Once pins appear, check the kit daily.

  6. Harvest the cluster

Harvest as the cap edges begin to thin, before discoloration. Twist at the base and harvest the entire cluster at once.

Need help with your kit?

White or pink fuzzy growth can be healthy mycelium and does not automatically mean mold. If you see green growth, unusual dark patches, or notice a sour or ammonia-like odor, stop making changes, take clear photos, and contact support.

Food & allergy safety: This product contains edible mushroom culture. People sensitive to fungi may experience an allergic reaction. Airborne spores may cause respiratory irritation. Grow indoors in a well-ventilated area and cook mushrooms thoroughly before eating.
